Koru and Kowhaiwhai Patterns

On Term 2 Te Ngahere, Te Maunga and some students family members did some koru and kowhaiwhai art. We drew koru and kowhaiwhai patterns to represent our whanau and hang on the wall of our school Whare. Firstly, we practised on a scrap piece of paper with a crayon. Then we showed our teachers. This time, we had to draw some Koru and Kowhaiwhai patterns on a good piece of paper with a pencil. On our good piece of paper, we had to make sure our koru were the symmetrical. After our good piece of paper, we had to draw super good koru and kowhaiwhai pattern to represent our family. We used pencil first and after we showed the teacher it was good to go. Next step was to paint over and after the paint had dried, we had to outline the koru and kowhaiwhai with a vivid. We learnt how to draw koru and kowhaiwhai patterns.

My Learning

On Monday Te Ngahere created our own google drawing called My Learning (to talk about our learning). We had to show our parents what/how we were learning in all subjects including art In SLC (Student Led Conferences) on Tuesday. My mum really liked my Learning and my blog, she thought they were really cool. I really liked it at SLC! My mum also said that SLC were better than interviews!!

Visiting the Treaty Grounds

Last week on Tuesday the whole of Paihia school went to visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds. The Junior children had to leave before us seniors and that was pretty early, They left at half past nine and the seniors left at twelve o’clock. When we got to the treaty grounds we were so tired from the long walk. We did loads of activities at the treaty grounds. There was: Planting, playing games, weaving and much more. Next time I go I would want to do those things again!
